Pit Stops
St. Louis, MO
First stop outside of Illinois on my way to the west coast was St. Louis. I stayed right downtown, which was pretty quiet (due to Covid). The city has a lot of history and the landing down by the arch is the heart of it all. This was just a quick one-nighter, but made sure to get the selfie with the arch.
Tulsa, OK
Next Stop on the tour: Tulsa, OK! Did you know that Tulsa is the center of the universe? Me neither, but low and behold, there is a literal spot on an overpass landmarked for it. The downtown is clearly going through a boom with active construction happening, but it’s easy to see why. The food was BOMB! Highly recommend checking out Rib Crib for your BBQ fix. I got the sampler plate and it didn’t disappoint.
Albuquerque, NM
Albuquerque is so artsy and low-key. Truly a vibe for a quick get away. There are a ton of nice murals around which is great to see. The downtown was an interesting mix of cultural and corporate spots, while the outer city limits are more densely populated. It really is just a city in the middle of a mountain range.
